MAIMU terms of service

Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the MAIMU application and the maimu.app website, operated by Surfzone OÜ, a company registered in Estonia (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using MAIMU you agree to them. They are written to be read; if anything is unclear, write to [email protected].

1. What MAIMU is

MAIMU is a disk-space application for macOS. The free tier scans the folders you choose, maps them, and shows you what it found. The Pro license (a one-time purchase) additionally unlocks the cleanup actions: moving items MAIMU surfaced to the Trash, and emptying the Trash from within the app.

2. The part you must actually read

Every deletion is your decision, and deleted means deleted. MAIMU can only act on items it surfaced and you explicitly confirmed — there is no automatic deletion and no free-form delete. Deletions default to the macOS Trash so you can change your mind. But when the Trash is emptied — by MAIMU at your request, by Finder, or by macOS — its contents are permanently gone.

We cannot restore your files. Not contractually, not as a courtesy, not technically. If you confirm the deletion of something you needed and the Trash has been emptied, no one — including us — can bring it back.

You are responsible for your data and your backups. Use Time Machine or another backup before large cleanups. Choosing what to delete, confirming it, and maintaining backups are entirely your responsibility.

3. Your license

4. Refunds

If MAIMU Pro isn't what you hoped, write to [email protected] within 30 days of purchase and we refund it — no forms, no interrogation. This promise is longer than, and does not limit, your statutory 14-day withdrawal right as an EU consumer.

5. No warranty

MAIMU is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Software has bugs; we design MAIMU defensively (trash-first, confirm-only, home-folder only, a local deletion log), but we do not promise it is error-free.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: our total liability arising from or related to MAIMU is limited to the amount you paid us for it; and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for data loss resulting from deletions you confirmed.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (such as liability for intent or gross negligence), and nothing here limits the mandatory rights you hold as a consumer under EU or Estonian law.

7. Updates

We ship updates when they are ready; the app may show a notice when a newer version exists (see the privacy policy for the single network request involved). Updates are covered by these same terms.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. Disputes go to the Estonian courts — except that if you are a consumer in the EU, you keep any right to sue, or be sued, in your own country of residence.

9. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the date at the top changes with them, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continuing to use MAIMU after a change means you accept the updated terms.
